A special collection of bowls created on residency in Tobe, Japan, in Spring 2020

From just 18 bowls bought back from Japan, each bowl is accompanied by a bespoke wooden box, signed and numbered to mark its place within the collection.

'In October 2019 I was invited to be the first artist-in-residence for the porcelain-producing town of Tobe in south west Japan. For a very intensive month I taught sessions to local potters and ceramic artists while also developing my own work based on local materials and techniques. I was invited to three tea ceremonies and got into conversation with the tea master about her extensive collection of bowls. One of these felt particularly nice to handle and drink from and became the model for this collection of bowls I made in my Tobe studio.' Tom Kemp, 2020
