'I have designed textiles for most of my career and I also work with plants, designing planting schemes and gardens. They complement each other. Finding clay as an expressive and creative material in recent years - studying at City Lit with Robert Cooper and Ruth Franklyn, has been wonderful, inspiring, and given me the freedom to experiment. Clay has allowed me to combine pattern and earth, to investigate volume and containment, shape and surface.'
'At the moment I am intrigued by the material and how it can be combined to form the body of each piece. Coiled, slabbed, carved, and painted with slips, the imperfections and presence of my hands is how each piece develops.Groups of work appear as I investigate the possibilities of each combination, and how it behaves and reacts in the firing.'
