About the Artist
‘My artistic journey stems from doing, from knowledge of ceramic processing. The experience I gained along the years has allowed me to acquire new awareness taking me beyond the codified rules of tradition thus setting a different stance with matter.’
‘The Accadimento (Occurrence) is the collaborative result of artist and medium, an open creative practice where rational planning engages in unreserved dialogue with accidental factors clay can generate and takes the work to final outcomes that are always unprecedented and unexpected.’
‘Once the shape has been constructed, the Accadimento (Occurrence) may happen thanks to any residual moisture in the clay combined with the transference of powdered pigments. The action induced on the surface, maintained and calibrated for a prolonged period of time, allows the individual colour particles to anchor and create sediments, precarious deposits randomly generated, evidence of an elapsed time when those variables manifest and will become indelible through firing.’
‘Transience and permanence, rigour and lyricism, planning and chaos, evanescence and substantiality, multiple antithetical aspects coexist in my works, strengthen each other and give rise to visual oxymorons.’
