About Vânia R. Gonçalves
Vânia R. Gonçalves (Portugal, 1978) is a Lisbon-based sculptor whose practice explores the fluid of change. Leaving dentistry for clay in 2017, she embraced ceramics in London before deepening her studies at Ar.Co, in Lisbon. She works experimentally with reclaimed materials such as stone dust, sand, eggshells, inviting them to dissolve, fuse, and re-emerge through layered glaze firings. Her organic forms inhabit the thresholds between intention and chance, past and future. Textures accumulate like memories, revealing lives in transformation. Each sculpture becomes a quiet terrain of motion, a space where the human condition is reflected as it is lived: unstable, evolving, and perpetually in transit.
