About the Maker
Born and bred in the Midlands, Nora Hadley currently lives in the South East of England. She works from her studio there, producing small batches of distinctive pottery.
Her love (some might say, obsession….!) for art and ceramics, goes back a long way when she first saw a ‘real life potter’, at the age of 11.
She produces work on a potters wheel using stoneware clays. Constantly refining ideas, her current work focuses on simplicity of form and flow, and the natural tactile nature of the medium.
To achieve this, she uses oxides, stains and countless blends of clay. The very nature of this process is both organic yet structured, and sees clays working in harmony with random overlapping shades.
As a result, no two vessels are ever quite the same.

Kirsty Adam’s work is both functional and holds aesthetic meaning, retaining the spontaneity and delicacy intrinsic to making on the potters’ wheel. A Japanese comb tool is used to create and enhance the throwing lines. Her Icelandic collection is the culmination of a research trip to Iceland to express the ‘otherworldliness’ of the landscape.
Kirsty is an award-winning ceramicist currently working from her studio in Newcastle upon Tyne. She originally trained at Brighton Art College and then on the potters’ wheel in Japan. She has developed a personal approach to throwing on the wheel using porcelain clay, to produce unique pieces for the home.
