About Claire McCullough
Viewing ceramics as a blank page, Claire breaks away from the traditional canvas. Shifting to a 3-D form with curves and movement. Exploring how this impacts the mark-making, and the application. The work challenges traditional views of material and what we view as a ‘brush.’ Developing a type of work that forces the maker to move with it, adapting to their individual curves and becoming close with the form.
 
Claire is a 21 year old from Kilkeel, Northern Ireland, and has worked with clay now for seven years. A recent graduate from Ulster University, where she studied Ceramics, Claire is now finding her feet as an independent maker. With a particular love for throwing, she strives to push her scale and form complexity. Making modern work, that she would enjoy in her own environment and that is playful and fresh.
