About Alice Fyles
Alice Fyles (born 1996 in Limerick, Ireland; raised in Norrtälje, Sweden) is a ceramic artist and researcher currently working as Ceramic Artist in Residence at UCA Farnham. She holds a BA in Ceramic Design from Central Saint Martins (2020) and an MFA in Ceramics and Glass from Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design (2024). 
 
Fyles’ practice explores themes of material origin, space, and time. The works presented here mark the latest stage of her ongoing research at UCA. They include hollow, single-fired cast forms taken from real rocks in Farnham. Despite their stone-like appearance, these pieces are remarkably light, weighing about 150g, roughly the weight of a billiard ball. 
 
Another thread of Fyles’ practice is rooted in the home, where she creates playful and functional pieces. These works are charming and often a little silly, inspired by small, joyful moments such as finally getting to pet the grumpy neighbourhood cat or missing the family dogs, Bert and Lucy, back home in Sweden.
