"These works were made through a process of throwing and altering. They are experiments in pushing clay to its limit and challenging myself to continue the making process beyond the point where I might consider the piece a failure. This can involve reforming broken works, patching multiple works together or introducing other materials."
 
Laura McCartney is a ceramic artist living in Newcastle. She grew up in the north east and has spent time living and working in Japan. She cites both of these places as influential in her work. Her practice is process led and she likes to incorporate found or waste materials.
