About the Artist

Cecilia Charlton is an award-winning American artist living and working in London. Her recent exhibitions include Rogue Objects, Bloomsbury Festival, London; SURGE: the East Wing Biennial, Courtauld Institute, London; Marching Through the Fields, Jeannieavent Gallery, London; Living Room, Safehouse 1 & 2, London.

Cecilia uses colour as a unifier across mediums of textiles, painting, sculpture, and installation. Her practice focuses on personal and social history, as explored through textiles of patterns and abstraction. Traditional materials and techniques provide focus on her creative life as a third-generation textile artist. The notion of time is central to the her work as a direct result of her time-consuming creative process, and the works themselves also indirectly evoke a sense of timelessness and ephemera.
