For the exhibition 'Shifting Skies' at Thrown, Sept-Oct 2026:
In responding to the theme of the exhibition, ‘Under Shifting Skies’ Carolyn has focussed on the act of looking up as a moment of pause and reflection. At these times thoughts often turn to loved ones, to memories of places, to absence, and the connections that stay.
Wherever we are in the world, we look up and see the sky existing beneath the same Sun and Moon, even when surrounded by vastly different environments. Looking up becomes a way of connecting with the people we choose to remember or want to feel close to or the memories we want to never forget. Through these pieces, Carolyn hopes to hold that sense of shared sky and quiet connection.

About Carolyn Tripp
Carolyn Tripp is a classically trained ceramic artist graduating from Camberwell School of Art in 1998. She currently throws in porcelain at her south London studio, creating shapes influenced by her interest in traditional Chinese and Japanese ware.
Her decorative process involves the collecting of memory, of personal stories, observational drawings, and words. These are all recorded on paper then torn apart and rewoven onto each surface creating abstract meaning and pattern.
Carolyn’s work has been featured in exhibitions across the UK since 2019.
