About Sophie Ambelas
"I approach ceramics in an unorthodox way, allowing the clay to follow its own path and memory. By incorporating unexpected materials and pushing the boundaries of the medium, I invite chance, movement, and transformation into each piece. My work is never static; it is living—alive with gesture, tension, and the subtle echoes of memory."
 
"There is a fluidity to the forms I create, as though they are still in the process of becoming. Through mixed media and unconventional finishes, I challenge what is traditionally expected of ceramics. Clay becomes both surface and sensation, a tactile invitation to touch, to explore, and to reconsider the limits of modern pottery."
 
"This body of work, Pool Bowls, is inspired by water—its shards, splashes, and shimmering reflections found in nature. Each bowl incorporates glass at its center, amplifying the sense of depth and liquidity. As the collection evolves, the clay is allowed to waver and tear during construction, capturing the movement of water in its moment of disruption and release."
