About Anna Demidova
"My work focuses on hand-built ceramic forms that explore the relationship between texture, movement and light. I work primarily with stoneware and terracotta, building each piece slowly and intuitively, allowing the form to grow from gesture and surface. I am interested in how tactile patterns, carved lines and organic silhouettes can shift the way an object is perceived — from functional to sculptural, from static to dynamic. Many of my pieces reference natural rhythms: water refraction, soft geological textures, and botanical structures. Across my practice, I aim to create ceramics that hold a sense of quiet energy and physical presence. Each work becomes a study of material behaviour and an attempt to translate emotional states into form."
Anna Demidova is a ceramic artist based in Lisbon. She works with hand-built stoneware and terracotta, focusing on organic forms, surface texture and the interaction of light with material. Originally from Southern Russia and the Black Sea region, she draws from the layered landscapes and cultural rhythms of her background, now intertwined with the coastal light, geology and natural patterns of Portugal. These influences shape her visual language and approach to form. Her work has been shown in Portugal and across Europe.
