About Valeria Muffato
Valeria Muffato’s ceramics draw on abstract art and Japanese aesthetics, with a focus on balance, proportion, and the expressive potential of minimal gestures. She often reinterprets traditional Mediterranean forms into contemporary shapes, creating work that is both restrained and characterful. Each piece is individually thrown or hand-built and decorated by hand, using her own blended clay bodies as a canvas for bold marks such as brushwork and black splashes. Her practice centres on achieving harmony between form and simplicity.
Valeria Muffato is an Italian, London-based ceramicist and former landscape architect. Trained in the traditional potteries of Deruta (PG, Italy), her work blends Mediterranean and Japanese influences with elements of abstract art. She established her studio in Tottenham in 2021, where she creates her collections and teaches workshops. Each piece is wheel-thrown or hand-built, pursuing clarity, balance, and elegance through simplicity.
