About Flora Fabris
Flora Fabris is a studio potter whose work sits at the intersection of material sensitivity, quiet observation and an ongoing dialogue with natural imperfection. Working primarily in stoneware, she creates functional vessels and tableware that honour the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi.
 
Her practice begins with the raw materials themselves. Locally sourced clays, wood ashes gathered from local trees, and simple feldspar / silica bases form the foundation of her glazes. These ingredients, processed by hand, are chosen for their subtle unpredictability. Through them, Flora invites organic variation: soft gradients, dry matte textures, and moments of gentle translucency that shift with use and light.
 
Before becoming a potter, Flora trained in civil engineering, and this background continues to shape her aesthetic. Her forms are pared back to essentials: quiet, balanced, and structurally honest. She works slowly, allowing each piece to become a conversation between intention and surrender, precision and the natural fluidity of clay.
 
Flora’s current body of work explores the Japanese Ma or negative space, through a series of vessels that emphasise rhythm, stillness and atmosphere of the in-between. In these pieces, proportion and placement are as important as glaze and surface; the groupings invite viewers to feel the intervals between objects as part of the work itself.
 
Grounded in mindfulness and an environmentally conscious approach, Flora’s practice seeks to create objects that hold presence without demanding attention, pieces that live gently, age gracefully, and remind us of the beauty of quiet moments.
