About Sophie Cohen
Sophie specialises in thrown, stoneware ceramics, exploring size and shape in pieces that range from exquisite miniatures to large, unglazed vessels with undulating strata of different clays. From functional ware to the purely decorative, her work is united by a simplicity of shape and surface design, and the relationship between the weight of a piece in the hand and the perception of the eye. All her work is made for people to look at, enjoy and for functional pieces, use.
 
Based in London, Sophie's route into ceramics began at North London's Working Men's College. A member of Turning Earth, Hoxton for several years, she now works as part of Rochester Square Studios in Camden Town.
