About Lucia Fraser
Lucia Fraser is a multidisciplinary artist specialising in painting and ceramics. Finding inspiration from the natural world she creates work that is gestural and expressive with a distinct colour palette. Although each piece has a starting point, inspired by a distant memory or a place in time, anything is possible within the composition during the process of painting. The works can therefore evolve to become entirely abstract through a deliberate release of conscious control.
Lucia Fraser was born in Birkenhead and studied Fine Art at Newcastle. Lucia’s approach to ceramics is heavily influenced by her painting practice. She uses a slab building technique to create ‘flat’ forms that act as three dimensional surfaces for her glazing technique, mirroring the way she applies paint to canvas. Her recognisable mark making transfers from canvas to ceramic in a fluid painterly style.

Kirsty Adam’s work is both functional and holds aesthetic meaning, retaining the spontaneity and delicacy intrinsic to making on the potters’ wheel. A Japanese comb tool is used to create and enhance the throwing lines. Her Icelandic collection is the culmination of a research trip to Iceland to express the ‘otherworldliness’ of the landscape.
Kirsty is an award-winning ceramicist currently working from her studio in Newcastle upon Tyne. She originally trained at Brighton Art College and then on the potters’ wheel in Japan. She has developed a personal approach to throwing on the wheel using porcelain clay, to produce unique pieces for the home.
