About Patricia Qua
"I’m an Argentinian-born Korean living currently in York. I studied graphic design at Parsons School of Design in New York and then moved to London to attend the Royal College of Art’s Communication Design MA course. After working in graphics, tv and advertising, a chance encounter with clay 5 years ago made me reassess my creative path, ditch the computer and explore creativity through ceramics." 
 
"My work sits right at the junction between sculptural form and functional object with the surface design being intimately connected to the three dimensional form. The main focus being patterns that combine colour and abstract/geometric motifs found in nature. These patterns are created by inlaying or creating nerikomi blocks with coloured porcelain and hand rolling the patterns to give them an organic movement thus achieving a tension between control and accident, softness and sharpness."
