About Paulina Gobiecka
"I am a big nature lover. I think a lot about people’s connection with it and how humans are constantly damaging the world."
"I make sculptures in the form of fantastical animals and plants or fugi. In every sculpture I tell a small personal story, providing insight into my thoughts. I use these as vessels to invite the observers into the world of my imagination, where things are not what they seem to be at first. Furthermore, I gain satisfaction when the observers have their own interpretation of my art, although sometimes it’s far away from what I had in my mind, when I created my ceramic sculptures."
"My works are usually very colourful and positive, because I believe it’s important to create art which is providing joy to people, as well as influencing them to appreciate topics I believe strongly in (i.e. love, friendships, dualism / conflict between heart and mind). Sometimes my sculptures are even created to be interactive works, to emphasise my influence over the observers."
"I’m also fascinated with wood-firing techniques, so I have developed my use of these techniques and creations of works in these techniques. Few years ago I have fulfilled one of my biggest dreams and built my own wood-fired kiln, in a particularly inspiring place for me; surrounded by nature at my countryside home."
