About Stephanie Carlton
"I work from old Grade II listed outbuilding, which used to be a garden shed until we converted it in 2019. It sits the end of the garden at my home in Norfolk, and in recent times has been joined by a rickety garden shed where all the messy clay work happens."
 
"I am Australian and moved to the UK in 2003, and have lived in various places until settling in Norfolk. I have a BA Hons in painting and printmaking from Australia and I have worked within arts conservation for many years, which feeds into my artwork in the use of materials and techniques such gold leaf and gilding, and reading the history of an object in its form and surface."
 
"My work in ceramics has built over the years and is a discipline I find endlessly absorbing. It sits alongside my continued work in printmaking and mixed media collage, and the porcelain jewellery which is an extension of the two."
 
"I work in a reduced palette, focusing on changes in light and contrast, with accents of colour. This minimal range allows me to explore the subtleties of light, something I have had to learn to appreciate in my time in the UK away from my native bright Australia."
