Stoneware and porcelain
H. 29 x dia. 19 cm
These sculptural functional vessels explore contrasts and transformation: combining rough dark clay with delicate porcelain white blossoms that appear to drift across its surface. Layered textures and sweeping brush marks evoke movement and breath, capturing a sense of impermanence and evolution. Blossoms emerge as both fragile and resilient, suggesting the fleeting beauty of moments and the traces they leave behind.
About Tina Sexton
Tina Sexton is a self-taught ceramic artist whose work explores the layered complexity of human experience. Drawn to clay for its responsiveness and ability to transform through touch, time, and fire, she uses the medium as a mirror for the many states and stages we inhabit.
Her practice is shaped by life’s transitions and her thrown and altered ceramics embrace duality and transformation: fragile yet resilient, shifting yet complete.
Without formal training, her self guided journey informs her belief that art is an evolving dialogue, not a finished statement. Her vessels, sculptures, and surface treatments often blur boundaries—between classical function and sculpture, beauty and fracture, permanence and impermanence.
Through her work, Sexton invites viewers to consider the multiplicity within themselves and the objects around them. Just as clay transforms in the kiln, she reminds us that change is not only inevitable but essential, and that identity—like a ceramic surface—is layered, shifting, and alive.
