About RAW86 Ceramics
Kirsty Wright work (aka RAW86 Ceramics) is hand-built using stoneware clays, a process that feels more organic to her. She finds joy in watching the clay transform from a piece of earth into a finished form, never quite knowing where the material will lead her. Hand carving and manipulating the clay at different stages are integral parts of her creative process.
 
Each piece is completed with porcelain slip and layers of glazes, including a volcanic glaze. Her latest creations are inspired by the effects of nature on the environment. "SEED POD" depicts new life as the pod opens and releases thousands of seeds.
 
Kirsty seeks inspiration from the earth, landscapes, architecture, nature, ancient techniques, and her urban environment. Her artistic journey begins with a deep need to express herself. Both form and texture are central to her work, as she aims to evoke emotional responses. Additionally, she embraces the beauty of irregularity and the imperfections that define us as human beings.
