About Lena Krivenkova
Lena Krivenkova is a London-based ceramic artist with a background in illustration. After relocating from Moscow in 2022, she turned to clay as a way of navigating change and developing a new artistic language. Still at the beginning of her artistic journey, Lena’s work has been shown in group exhibitions across the UK and Europe, including the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, Le Vase Fleuri at Ruup & Form Gallery, and (Un)Spoken at 67 York Street Gallery, among others.
Her practice centres on character rather than beauty, exploring gestures that feel raw, vulnerable, or unresolved. Though abstract, her forms carry a sense of movement, intention, and pause, like a feeling held just beneath the surface. Working with porcelain and stoneware, Lena often avoids commercial glazes in favour of slips, oxides, and textured finishes that suggest surfaces aged, weathered, or quietly alive. Using traditional hand-building techniques she shapes playful sculptural vessels that balance familiarity and strangeness.
