"Spielen, the German word for (“play”) is a series of interactive sculptures created during a residency at Zentrum für Keramik, Berlin. Inspired by walks through the city, the works reflect the contrast and balance between urban architecture and surrounding nature. Each piece consists of two interlocking stoneware forms, encouraging interaction and symbolising the meeting point between the industrial and the natural. Made from locally sourced clay in neutral tones, the sculptures embody the region and the interplay that inspired them."
 
 
About Helena Lacy
Helena Lacy is a London-based ceramic artist whose practice explores material transformation, memory and storytelling. Patterns play a central role in her work, inspired both by those formed through natural movement and those embedded in print. Working across sculpture and functional furniture, she balances structure with unpredictability through experimental glazing and printing techniques. Her works reflect a wider interest in hidden narratives and the subtle traces objects carry. 
 
Lacy holds an MA in Ceramics & Glass from the Royal College of Art (2024) and a BA (Hons) in Technical Arts and Special Effects from Wimbledon College of Art (2014). Her work has been exhibited at New Designers Selects, Selfridges, Mint Gallery, Liberty, Caroline Fisher Projects, London Craft Week, London Design Festival, and Paris Design Week. Lacy has completed residencies in Japan, Germany and Finland, and is currently Artist in Residence at the Sarabande Foundation (2024–2025). Her work has been featured in Elle Decoration, Colour Hive, TheWick, Emerging Potters, Apollo, Architectural Digest, ShowStudio, A2Z Fashion Magazine, Say hi to_, Typical Girls Magazine and Art Maze Magazine.
