About Caroline Gray
Caroline Gray is a ceramic artist working out of a studio in South East London. She has a Masters in Fine Art from Chelsea College Art and in recent years has been working with clay, though she has always been a maker. Her slab-built pieces are uniquely expressive, informed by the subtleties of character through line and form. Arranged in groups and pairs, their relating tensions and spatial interactions set up the ‘conversations’ which are central to her aesthetic.
 
She works with earthenware and Terra Sigillata, a super refined, burnished slip which was originally used in Ancient Greek and Roman pottery. Its subtle sheen reveals every surface detail of the making process.
