About Julieta Feresin

"I use clay and paper as the support for my abstract and figurative artworks. I work with automatic drawing as a method to channel the symbolisms that I use to manifest my vision. Moved by personal experiences, the occultism, dreams, and desires I cover large pieces of paper with uncontrolled-controlled strokes using soft chalk pastels and my fingers to produce a gestural imprint that is very present in my ceramic paintings too."

"Inspired by ancient art pieces, I build vessels that function as a sort of caverns that house their own messages, the legends inscribed in them result in a universal and primitive language that can only be figured out by the observer. The word is another tool that I often use in the form of short poems or in the artworks’ titles, being poetry, another practice I enjoy very much and exercise daily."

"I’ve studied Graphic Design at the University of Buenos Aires and at the same time I’ve trained myself as a photographer. Curiosity led me to work and keep exploring diverse mediums including: automatic drawing, sculpture, painting, photography, poetry, video and self-publishing in zine format."

"I took part in different group shows and graphic fairs such as Paraguay, Migra and Bs.As Fanzine Fest. In 2017 I won the Fujifilm Viseu Portugal Photographic Marathon award and the BAJoven Art Award from the city government."

"Since 2018 I’ve been producing utilitarian and sculptural ceramic pieces combining hand-building and automatic drawing techniques."

"In 2019 I’ve got interested in mysticism and in a self-taught way I've started studying occult sciences including astrology and tarot. I offer natal chart readings and other astrological services at 'La Casa de Los Templos’ a practice that I maintain to this day."

"In 2022 I was pre-selected for the ITAU award and selected to attend the first edition of ‘Escuela de Artes y Oficios’, a training program at Centro Cultural Kirchner."

"I live in Buenos Aires city where my atelier is located and I work on personal and commissioned projects."
